This six-session course offers a practical introduction to performing Shakespeare, designed to make classical text more approachable and engaging. Led by Hull-based actor Laura Elsworthy, the sessions focus on understanding how Shakespeare’s language works both on the page and in performance.
Across weekly workshops, participants will work through voice techniques, character development and group exercises that support performing verse and uncovering meaning. The course emphasises a hands-on approach, helping attendees build confidence while exploring well-known speeches and scenes.
Open to all experience levels, the sessions are suitable for beginners as well as those returning to acting or looking to develop existing skills. Laura Elsworthy brings over 15 years of professional experience, including performances in Macbeth directed by Kenneth Branagh and productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
